Our group's topic for our research project
Our group chose texting as our research topic. I think this is a solid research topic because there are a lot of aspects of texting that are relevant to the world we live in today. We looked at many different aspects and effects of texting like; the dangers of texting and driving/walking, the effects of texting in the class room, “sexting” and its effects on our society, and the medical issues and concerns linked to texting. I think you made us choose our topics from pulling news sources because finding our topics from up-to-date news sources makes certain that our topic is relevant and it gives us a chance to use the knowledge we acquired in class about finding a research topic and putting it to use in a practical application. The aspect of this subject that interests me the most about texting is the effects of texting in the classroom. I am interested in looking at how texting effects students grades and classroom performance, also how teachers banning texting in their classroom effects students behavior. Does it make the issue worse? Are students more likely to rebel? Or does banning texting actually result in a positive outcome in the classroom?

This is a great research topic. The phone, which was sold as a novelty item in the 60/70's, changed the lives of millions of people today. The ability to call someone in San Francisco from your own house is a miraculous development and improved our lives. However, it stopped the need for human contact. The topic you are going to research: "How teachers banning texting in the classroom effects student behavior" should definitely cover whether no texting will increase face to face communication.
ReplyDeleteI also think that this is a great research topic. Texting and driving is a very dangerous habbit. It is said to be just as worst as drinking and driving. I lost a very close friend to texting and driving two days after we graduated from high school, and i dont want another family, community, school, or friends to go through what i did .
ReplyDeleteI agree with Michael and Bobby on this research topic. In my opinion texting has changed the way people act communicate in the world today. I believe that texting can be a good thing and a both thing at the same time. I agree with texting because if it an emergency and you are unable to call someone on the phone it is easier to communicate through text. I also believe texting has made communication drop in the society today. Everyone turns to texting instead of picking up the phone and actually talking with another person. It is very impersonal.
